The Nulliphidian Foundation

 Introduction

Founded in 1994, reconstituted in 1996 and again in 1997, The Nulliphidian Foundation (formerly The Nulliphidian Temple) has always stood against the faith based falsehood of religious belief. Our aim is not to bash religion just for the sake of it, but to point out rational and logical truths that negate the need for a theistic view of the Universe. The word 'Nulliphidian' is a corruption of 'nullifidian', from the Latin nullus fides ; literary 'no faith'. The 'f' of nullifidian was replaced with 'ph' as a symbol of identification with the cultural group Phutyle International. However, The Nulliphidian Foundation is not under the authority of Phutyle International, merely aligned with it in the campaign for individual freedom.

The Nulliphidian Foundation has no priests or rituals or services, no holy book, no laws, and most importantly, no god or teaching regarding 'life' after death. One cannot become a "member" or "deciple" of The Nulliphidian Foundation - you either agree or disagree with what it has to say. It's purpose is to provoke debate regarding God, gods, the "Supernatural" , faith and the position of humanity within the universe. The Nulliphidian Foundation lays out it's beliefs and arguments in a clear and concise form; while the argument regarding the nonexistence of deities is perceived as complex and challenging, it only appears so due to the history, superstition, and tradition that we in the modern age have inherited from more ignorant times. Common sense and rationality do away with the misconceptions and unquestioned falsehoods that lead to Theism and Deism.

The Nulliphidian Foundation is unashamedly Atheistic and Humanistic. While it does make definite statements regarding faith, religion etc., it's purpose is not to provide an answer to every question. When the Nulliphidian Foundation sees a falsehood, it will expose it with a rational argument. When it can, it will provide a rational answer to fill the void. Many things in the universe are unexplained, but that does not mean they are unexplainable. Nor does it mean that we should ascribe all unexplained events to some supernatural force. Our ignorance should not be our blindfold, but our motivation.

The Nulliphidian Foundation exists to promote rational facts. "Rational" is a word that crops up a lot in Nulliphidian texts, and with good reason: Logical, rational investigation is the cornerstone on which The Nulliphidian Foundation is built. It is the fundamental concept in finding the truth about any situation, especially philosophical questions such as the non existence of God.

A valid question to ask would be: "If God does not exist, then surly the people who believe in 'him' are doing no harm, and if they are happy, should just be left alone?"

It is true that belief in God gives a great many people comfort and support, but it also takes away from the value and power of humanity. If one puts their trust in God, they are investing in false hope, and taking away from their trust in themselves.

Giving authority to a non existent entity takes away from individual freedom and responsibility that drives us to grow and evolve. Theism and Deism are stunting our growth as humans.

On a more worldly level, terrible actions are carried out all over he planet against human beings by human beings in the name of God. Wars, bigotry, discrimination and oppression have blighted every country on earth, quite often because it is claimed that "it is the will of God" or that such action is defending "the law of God" .

The fact is that there is no rational evidence to believe that God exists, let alone that certain actions are 'his' will or fulfil 'his' law. Therefore actions carried out under these guises are wrong and dangerous. It is fairly rare that belief in God does no one any harm.

Deity worship can also be a blindfold to reality. Just accepting that an event 'is the work of God' stops us from exploring the real reasons and mechanisms behind it.

Humanity has always had a built in desire to explore and to know. Wrongly ascribing events to God curtails that desire.
