Turning up the Heat in Florida Temperatures remained in the low fifties in Jacksonville Florida last Thursday 16th, but that didn't stop artist and band from turning up the heat in Metropolitan Park for their first outing in the USA at the Music of the Rivers festival. Taking to the stage amid a roster of acts which featured Cowboy Junkies and the Frames among others, the band delivered a blistering sound to all present and to the world at large via the cable networks, radio and the webcasts on Celtic TV and Worldnet Artist Artist, thanks to excellent technical support from the MOTR stage crew - kudos to Craig, BK, Brian, Dale, Bob and all of their people for doing such a great job. The festival's main aim has been to draw attention to the plight of rivers worldwide and to raise awareness for their protection and preservation, focussing on this occasion on the wildlife, waters and habitats of the Ichetucknee River threatened due to industrial development. The artist would like to take this oppurtunity to wish MOTR and its organisers all the best in their continuing fight for this worthy cause.
Hot on the heels of the Music of the Rivers appearance, full coverage of the gig is being webcast on Celtic TV, exact schedules of which can be found by checking out the website at www.celtictv.com. Special thanks here due to Lou Rubiano (who throws money onstage if you're good...) and Bill Phillips for doing such a sterling job, working alongside the cable crews to produce footage of such outstanding quality and making everyone look like rock stars...
The PF camp touches base in Ireland this December with a low-key private gig before winding down for the Christmas season. A special small-scale gig is planned for Galway in the early days of the New Year (watch Gig Guide for details). 2001? On the horizon are looming prospects of a further excursion to the European mainland, in the shape of an Italian concert event, date as yet to be disclosed; an upcoming release is forecast of a CD featuring the artist live in concert, to be made available in the States; and who knows, the internet end of things may even get a chance to upgrade its hardware (...any ideas for Christmas presents, anyone...?) See you in 2001!
