Plans are afoot to launch a fresh onslaught on the capital in the wake of recent interest from record labels and management companies. A combination gig of Galway bands in Dublin may be in the offing as well as some of the rarer solo performances of Philip on piano. Venues undisclosed at time of writing.
Gearing Up for a Clare Invasion
Philip returns to his county of origin this April to play a grass-roots gig in Brandons, Ennis, Co. Clare. Endangered Breed already having been baptised in Co. Clare prior to its airing in Galway, the local populace are reported to be gearing up for a night on the town. Ennis you have been warned. Philip plays Brandons on Friday 16th April.
Philip Goes (In)to the Movies
In an interesting twist to Philip's media doings, he has recently been offered a small part in an American-budgeted feature film being shot in the west of Ireland. Featuring Jonathan Price (Evita, Tomorrow Never Dies) and Neill Stuke (Sliding Doors), the film,"The Suicide Club", will be shot on location in Gort, Headford, Cong and Inverin, Co. Galway, with some studio work in Inverin. Following a storyline set in seventeenth century London, the film is destined for network premiere on Sky. More on this as details unfold.
The Cyberspace Gig Launch
Pulses and decibels were up for the special gig at NUI Galway's rag week to mark the opening of this, the funkiest website on the planet!
The Official Philip Fogarty Website went online on February 23rd last, kicked off by the gig on the 22nd. The country's most raucous bunch of students piled in and made a night of it. Big stage, big lights and a big sound despite ambiguous monitoring (ask Rosina!) let the set and the musicians stretch their limbs and turn out a massive performance. Immediate martyrdom is hereby to be conferred on the suicidally brave Fergal McDonagh, who risked life and limb to handle the merchantise and battle NUI Galway student life at the height of rag week. Cheers, Fergal!
