We're Back! (Obviously) Hardware problems have plagued the cyberspace end of the Philip Fogarty camp, delaying updates these last couple of months, however fingers crossed that the worst is over. We missed you too!
Following a meeting after the last Ennis gig, Philip found himself in front of the lens again last month. Working with an American television crew, Philip and the band set up in Kennedy Park, Eyre Square in the heart of Galway City, and belted out a rendition of "Inhumane" for the cameras. Then it was down to the Spanish Parade by the water, where fiddle players Nicola and Rosina were in the hot seat (and sounded very well). The filming was undertaken by Holy Hour Productions of Washington D.C., to be used as material in a promo for a new series being pitched to the major television networks in the U.S., not that this serious work deterred the lads in Holy Hour from soaking up the local ambience; Philip, Anna and the band would like to convey their thanks to Chris and Rob for a great day!
Open Ear Productions, a sound production company based in Oughterard, Co. Galway, is shortly to feature Endangered Breed the EP on its website, under its Music from Galway section; good news for anyone wishing to find out more about the EP or purchase it online. Soundbytes of the EP, hitherto unavailable online, can also be accessed from the new posting. Philip would like to convey a special word of thanks to Bruno Staelin of Open Ear for making this link possible. Cheers Bruno! Visit Endangered Breed at www.openear.ie
So where did Philip disappear to when he wasn't on the net? Well, during a trip to the continent (ciao a tutti in Svizzera), he made it over to Hungary for the total eclipse of the sun(thanks to Anna and Laurie for driving him all the way there and back...) The singer admits that it had been one of his life-long ambitions to be present at this, the final total solar eclipse of the twentieth century, having known about it since childhood. Whatever its significance, the artist's Hungarian has improved 1000%. Despite almost succumbing to the maze of roads that didn't lead there, the artist and band finally made it to The Venue, Strandhill in Sligo to find what has to be one of the finest venues in the North West. What a great place! The band went on to play a pristine-sounding set with soundman Vinny Higgins clocking up major brownie points for that thing he does with the desk. Yes, again, please. The final Ennis gig for Autumn went ahead after some doubts about the date, and thanks is again due to the Crusheen gang for their support, not to mention those who came from Galway... or should we say Munich and the Basque Country? Finally, for those of you with a tendency to go "D'oh", a date change; the Half Moon date in Cork has jumped from January to February Saturday 5th... you saw it here. |
