Straight to Gig Guide

C21

Time out to wish all our visitors all the best in the New Millennium on this, the first update of Y2K (the year, not the bug, that is). As the resident artist hatches plans to take over the world, he would like to extend sincere greetings to all punters, and for those of you far away from the gig circuit of Ireland, not to worry; he fully intends to make it to your neck of the woods!

Happy Millennium!

That was the Year that Was

Endangered Breed comes of age this month, as indeed does this website, both being one year old. The EP took to the streets this time last year with a launch night to remember in the Roisin Dubh, Galway, having been "baptised" in Crusheen Co. Clare the previous November. Shortly afterwards the website came on line, amid a flurry of media activity and live work. As word spread, so did the gigs, and by the time the band broke for the summer, the EP had garnered enough airplay and interest to get the attention of promoters on the continent. Philip then took time out to test the waters in Europe, and on his return, took up the writing reins once again.

Since then the gigs have continued with a change in the line-up, but still retaining the elements of violin, guitar, drums and keyboards. The artist has been delving into different production and synthesis techniques as his sound develops and explores new areas.

Now at the beginning of 2000, plans are being laid for, among other things, a tour on the continent later this year, while new horizons beckon in the fields of television and radio. It's been an eventful twelve months, and the coming year seems set to hold much more in store...

Endangered Breed hits Cyberspace

Since the last update, Open Ear Productions, a sound production company based in Oughterard, Co. Galway, has added Endangered Breed the EP to its website, under its Music from Galway section, so that the EP is now available to purchase online. Soundbytes of the EP, hitherto unavailable online, can also be accessed from the new posting.

Special thanks to Bruno of Open Ear for making this link possible.

Once More into the Breach...

The changed date of Saturday 5th February for the Half Moon Club Cork is almost upon us at the time of writing, marking Philip's first appearance at the Leeside since that summer night when the Clare/Cork contingent turned out in force. Having given the Corkonians ample time to recover, the band is all set to deliver the next salvo, this time with fiddle player Nicola on board playing a hometown gig - well her name is Murphy, after all...

Next up is the first gig of the year in the North West, in The Venue, Sligo. If the sound delivered at the last gig is anything to go by, it should be a hell of a gig. See you there...
