Plastic soft drink bottles (coded 1) can be recycled into: Carpet, paintbrushes, skis, Rope, scouring pads, surfboards, Quilted jackets, detergent bottles, pillows and Polyester filling for sleeping bags. Plastic water bottles (coded 2) can be recycled into: Plastic bins, flowerpots, car parts, Plastic pipe, crates, toys and Bottles. Medical & Electronic packaging (coded 3) can be recycled into: Tubs for electronic components. Polystyrene (coded 6) used in CD cases and electronic component reels can be recycled into: Office supplies (pens, rulers, trays), waste cans, CD cases, park benches, fencing, Picnic table and playground equipment. Other types of plastic containers are not being recycled at this time because it is difficult to find markets for reuse and resale. Separation costs are also a problem. Plastic comes from two natural resources: petroleum and natural gas.
