FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Congratulations to the boys in 2nd Class who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday 7th May. They were a credit to themselves and to you their parents and teachers. A big Thank You to Ms Grennan & Mr. Coyle, for all their hard work in preparing the boys to such a high standard. The ceremony was very much enhanced by the beautiful singing of the Boys School Choir under the direction of Anne Purcell. Also a big Thank You to the Parents Association who provided a fantastic party for all the Communicants and their families.
FAMILY FUN DAY:
A Family Fun Day has been organized for Sunday 19th Junein our school. This is part of the ongoing Birthday Celebrations of St. Pius X Schools.
A programme of events has been put in place, details to follow shortly.
SPORTS: SPORTS DAYS - The Senior Sports Day (3rd – 6th Class) will be held in the V.E.C. Grounds, Terenure, on Friday 10th June and The Junior Sports Day (Junior Infants – 2nd Class) will be held in Bushy Park on Friday 17th June.
HURLING - The Senior team coached by Mr. Hayes having won a great match last week are still in a play off situation, their next match is this Thursday against Hollypark. Again we have every confidence in them and wish them the very best of luck.
OLYMPIC HANDBALL - The All Ireland u13 Olympic Handball finals took place in Moate, Co. Offaly in April. The boys won all their matches but were beaten in a fantastic final. The final went to a "sudden Death Penalty Shoot Out" and Skyrne, Meath were victorious in the end. The boys were a credit to themselves and the school. Ciaran Corcoran captained the team coached by Mary Kneafsey and Elaine Goddard. Top goal scorers were Niall Cooney and Ronan Cleary.
FUNDRAISING:
GOLF CLASSIC
Our annual Golf Classic which was held in the Castle Golf Club, Rathfarnham on Friday 29th April, raised over €20,000. Once again great support was received from everyone and many thanks to all who organised such a great day.BAG PACKING
The 5th and 6th Class boys & girls will be Bag Packing in Tesco on the 26th, 27th and 28th May. We would appreciate any parents and children who would like to volunteer on these days.RAFFLE
We will be holding our annual Raffle on the weekend of the Family Fun Day, with great prizes on offer. Raffle cards will be handed very soon.GALA DINNER
: A Gala Dinner will be held in the Burlington Hotel on September 30th. Tickets will be made available soon. This will be a great opportunity for parents of children to have a great night out and for past pupils to catch up with former classmates and their teachers. RETIREMENT: We want to congratulate Sheelagh McDonnell on her impending retirement. We will be very sorry to lose Sheelagh as she has been a wonderful colleague and Teacher. We will really miss her company and expertise but we want to wish her very best for the future.UPCOMING SCHOOL CLOSURES:
