In 1820 the first Brothers came to James's St. and opened a school at no. 67 in a store. The street name dates back to earlier times when pilgrims leaving the city for the shrine of  St. James, in Spain ,went through a gate in the city walls- James's Gate, and along "James's Street." - the road to the shrine.

1832 The Brothers, now living in Mill Street, closed the school and left.

1868  The Brothers return to the present site at Belie Bank, invited by Cardinal Cullen. The following year a new school was opened on the site of the present monastery

1885  A branch school was opened in  Goldenbridge. This was moved toSt. Michael's,Keogh Square, on 25th, January 1929. 

1960 Work on our present school in Basin Lane commenced on 12th Sept. The name Basin Lane refers to the fact that a reservoir called "the city basin" which provided drinking water for the city, existed for years just across the road from our school site, and is an easy landmark to find in many old maps of Dublin.

1962 Scoil San Séamas  Basin Lane opened with 545 pupils.

1963 Scoil San Séamas blessed on 15th. May

1977 Present secondary blessed and pupilsmoved in on the 1st. September.

1990 Brothers vacated the old Monastery and moved to new Monastery on Basin Lane- March 17th.

1998 The president of Ireland, Mary McAleese, officially opens our first computer room- April 30th.
