Schull Planetarium has had a long background of successful press liaison. This has been exemplified during a number of notable astronomical events, most especially during the Solar eclipse of 1999. On that occasion, as on others, Planetarium Senior Lecturer Mark Sweetnam was available for interview and comment before, during and after the event. Highlights included a recorded Starshow, with Leo Enwright transmitted on RTÉ Radio 1, and live commentary on the eclipse on RTÉ television. Schull Planetarium has also provided informed comment to all the national broadsheets.
