Classical Regional Italian Cooking and all Italian Wine List

Roberto Pons was born in Bordighera, Liguria, in Northern Italy where his family were involved in the catering business for many years. He trained in Lausanne, Switzerland where he worked at the Lausanne Palace and for Freddy Girardet for three years. Before coming to Ireland in 1988 he worked for a number of years in Italy and London, where he met his Irish wife Celine.

At La Dolce Vita, the menu Roberto has created reflects the very different regional cooking in Italy, from North to South, and the same with the Wine List. The menu changes seasonally, but some of the favourites like Saltimbocca a la Romana always remain.

In the New Year Roberto will be setting up a cookery school, specialising in Italian food and Wine, any enquiries may be made directly to the restaurant.

Award Winning Cuisine: "Footprints" is the exotic new Restaurant at the Whitford House Hotel. Our Award Winning Cuisine has achieved the highest reputation for excellence, presentation and value. Using only the freshest local produce, with Head Chef Martin Treacy our team of Chefs produce foods of the highest quality. Naturally, our location is an advantage. County Wexford is famous for its abundance of fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood and fresh water fish and we only select the very best.

"Footprints" is widely acclaimed for mouth-watering Seafood, succulent Steaks and its specially chosen Wine Collection, serving nightly a choice of Table d' hote or a la Carte is available. Tuesday Night Special (September 1st to May 31st) offers our discerning patrons a Choice of Four Course Evening Meals followed by Traditional Irish Music in the Forthside Lounge £14.95.

In the "Forthside Lounge" our Carvery famous throughout the South East is open daily from 12 noon to 2.30pm. The new Bar Food Menu serving daily from 2.30pm to 9.00pm embraces a selection of Seafood, Meat, Poultry and Vegetarian dishes.

Accommodation: Our accommodation is of the highest standards. All rooms are en-suite, spacious and luxuriously furnished and decorated. Remote control multi-channel television, international direct-dial telephones, baby monitoring system and hairdryers are standard features. But for those wishing a higher degree of luxury, why not try one of our deluxe rooms - all of which have private patios.

Conferences: The Conference Room, capable of seating fifty people, is the ideal location for those important business or club meetings and seminars. It is bright, air conditioned and completely private. For business people wishing to hold an "off-site" meeting free from interruption, special rates for meals, accommodation and conference facilities are available.
