This single from 1969 by the Knights Showband is probably the very first commercial recording by a band from Portlaoise. The lead singer was Seamus 'Rack' O'Brien who was also well-known as a soccer player. Seamus is still going strong today, though he has traded in the microphone and football boots for his beloved dogs.
