Ribena/FAI Schools Five a Side Soccer Rules 2006

 

Affiliation/Entry Fee

 

€40 per school. This sum affiliates school and entitles it to enter FAI Schools' competitions. Schools will not be allowed participate until Branch Primary Section receives forms and fee.

 

Age Rule

 

There is no age rule. Players must be registered on school roll on September 30th 2005.

 

Competition

 

‘A’ Cup:          0-25 boys on school roll in 4th, 5th, 6th class on 30 Sep 2005.

‘B’ Cup:          26-80 boys on school roll in 4th, 5th, 6th class on 30 Sep 2005.

‘C’ Cup:          81+ boys on school roll in 4th, 5th, 6th class on 30 Sep 2005.

 

Mixed teams of boys and girls in above competitions allowed and encouraged.

 

Girls ‘A’ Cup:             0-45 girls on school roll in 4th, 5th, 6th class on 30 Sep 2005.

Girls ‘B’ Cup:             46+ girls on school roll in 4th, 5th, 6th class on 30 Sep 2005.

 

Referees

 

Official Referees should be used where possible. Minimum age limit for referees is 16 years.

 

Participation

 

Schools participating in Ribena Five a Side competition will receive two (2) size four leather footballs. Footballs will only be supplied to schools who have completed entry and forwarded entry fee to FAI Schools.

 

On the day of competition, schools must follow the procedure below:

 

Ø      A squad of no more than eight players must be submitted to the local organiser.

Ø      List on school paper must contain full name of each player plus date of birth.

Ø      Signature of teacher in charge and principal must be on squad list.

Ø      Once submitted, no changes can be made to the squad for that day’s competition.

Ø      Squad lists will be available for inspection by other teachers during competition.

 

 

Competition Format

 

The competition will be run, where possible, in a blitz format.

 

Ø      Number of teams per group must not exceed five (5)

Ø      Teams will not play in excess of four games per day.

Ø      TWO points shall be awarded for a win, one point for a draw and no points for a loss

Ø      In the event of two teams being tied on points, the following criteria shall be applied:

o       Result of game between the sides

o       Goal Difference

o       Goals Scored

o       Goals conceded

o       If still tied, teams shall play a maximum of 5 minutes per half, ‘golden goal’ rule to apply (i.e. first team to score wins). If at the end of extra time, teams are still tied a penalty shoot out will take place with three kicks per team to apply. If still tied, sudden death penalties to apply.

 

Ø      If more than two teams are tied then the competition shall be decided as follows

o       Goal difference

o       Goals scored

o       Goals conceded

o       If still tied a round robin penalty shoot-out shall take place. Three kicks each, with sudden death penalties to be used if still tied. At the end, the top two teams will take part in a further penalty shoot-out to decide the winner.

 

In the event of bad weather, the competition may be played on a knock-out basis. Competition will be arranged on a group basis as decided by Primary Branch section in conjunction with local organiser. Winners to qualify for provincial/regional finals.

 

Media

 

All schools are encouraged to promote the competition in their own area through local press and radio. All media press releases and reports must bear the title of “Ribena FAIS Primary Schools' Soccer”

 

 

Ribena FAI Schools Five a Side Soccer Rules of the Game

 

The laws of Association Football shall apply, with the following adaptations:

 

Law 1: Field of Play

 

The field of play must be rectangular with the following dimensions: Maximum length shall be 60 yards with minimum length 50 yards. The maximum width shall be 50 yards with minimum width 40 yards. The recommended field shall be 60 yards x 40 yards.

 

The centre circle shall have a radius of 5 yards.

 

The penalty area shall have a width of 30 yards and a length of 12 yards.

 

The penalty spot shall be 10 yards from goal line.

 

The goals shall measure 6 feet high by 16 feet wide.

 

 

Law 2: The Ball

 

A size four (4) must be used for all competitions.

 

Law 3: No. of Players

 

Eight (8) players per squad. No players, other than those eight, shall be togged out on sideline.

Only five (5) players, including a goalkeeper, may be on the field of play at any time.

 

Law 4: Substitutions

 

Substitutions may be made at any time, and on a rotational basis. The referee must be alerted of any change.

 

Law 5: Duration of Game

 

Each game shall consist of 24 minutes. Each half is to be of 12 minutes duration except for below.

 

Total playing time per team per blitz shall not exceed 80 minutes. Where a team must play four games, each match shall be reduced to 20 minutes per game, 10 minutes per half.

 

Half time break shall not exceed five minutes

 

Law 11: Offside

 

There shall be no offside in any games.

 

Law 12: Fouls and misconduct

 

Red Card/Two Consecutive yellow cards: Player shall be suspended for next match on day or the first match of the next day’s competition.

 

Violent Conduct, Abuse of Referee, opposing players, teachers or foul and abusive language shall be suspended for next two matches on day or of next day’s competition. Such a ban can be extended at discretion of Primary Section depending on referee’s report.

 

Law 13: Free Kicks

 

The opposition shall be at least six yards from the ball at the time of the free kick.

 

Law 14: Penalty Kick

 

Penalties shall be taken from a spot 10 yards from the goal line.

 

Law 16: Goal Kicks

 

A goal kick may be taken from any spot inside the penalty area.

 

Players Equipment

 

All players, including substitutes, must wear shin guards. A player will not be allowed to participate if he/she is not wearing a complete and safe set of shin guards. Match referees must check all players for this item of gear prior to every game.
