my first four months in race

Hi, my name is Jonathan Mulhall. I am now in RACE four months, and am in a trainers yard. Luckily I was sent out in the first lot to the trainers. I was sent to Mister Christy Roaches and am very happy I was sent there because I want to be a National Hunt jockey. I am getting lots of experience in the yard. My trainer lets me ride between three and four lots a day; some of them would be riding work as in galloping the horses upsides or in behind each other. There would usually be twelve in a lot riding out with us. We have a lot of work to do in the mornings: first we muck out. I muck out seven horses every morning. Then we ride out a lot or two and go for breakfast. When we come back we bed down and water them. When were finished we ride out what, more than likely, is our last lot. We then will brush the yard and feed up. This is done every morning so you're always kept busy. Its not easy getting up at five o'clock in the mornings, but after a while you get used to it, and its not so bad. In the evening we do three hours of classes. Our subjects are Maths, Communications, French, Stable and Yard and I.T. Studies. At night then we have Simulators on a Monday night, P.E on a Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday night and a half day Friday, so no classes that evening. So far I think it’s a good course if you have a love for horses, but one thing it's not is a doss, which most people think it is before they come here.
