HORSES

There are 32 horses kept in the stables at RACE for the instruction of Apprentices. These horses are generally retired racehorses which have been loaned to RACE by owners. Each student on the Pre-Apprentice Jockeys Course is responsible for the grooming and care of a particular horse.

Sir True Blue By: Bluebird - Very Sophisticated Owner: Mrs. C Grassick Trainer: Mr . J Grassick	Justin Timmons	Sir True Blue, a bay gelding, ran a total of 34 times during his career. He had 2 wins and ran under good jockeys including Tadgh O’Shea, Kevin Manning and Eddie Ahern. He is now retired and in the Racing Academy.
Timeless River By: Over the River - Time Will Tell Owner: Cecil Ross Trainer: Cecil Ross	Robert Fagan	Timeless River won 2nd time out in a National Hunt flat race. He won by 1 length. He was ridden by A. Ross. His colour is chestnut with a white blaze on his face. He is 15 years of age
California Spirit By: Perugiou - Rising spirit Owner: Few good men syndicate Trainer: M J Grassick	Cheryl Robinson	California Spirit is a flat horse and had 3 runs and no wins. He is a good ride for trainees who want to build up arm muscles.
The Carrig Rua By: Phardante - Soul Lucy Owner: George Moore Trainer: C.F.Swan	Adrien Bolger	The Carrig Rua is a lovely black gelding with two white socks on his hind legs. He is 15 years of age and he is about 16.1 hh.The Carrig Rua is now retired and is housed in R.A.C.E. He has had two wins on the track. I'm sad to add that The Carrig Rua died suddenly on the 18th November 2005 from a heart attack.

Moussahim By: Riverman - Abeesh Owner: O. B. P. Carroll. Trainer: G. A. Cusack	Donna Colbert	Moussahim is a chestnut gelding. He is 15 years old. He has 5 wins on the flat. He is retired, and is now at RACE.
Hi Handsome By: High Estate - Bonnie Bess Owner: P X Clarke Trainer: Michael Grassick	Niamh Bergin	Hi Handsome is an 14 year old bay gelding. He has 4 wins including a Grade 2 Hurdle.
Star Man By: Phardante - Hansel’s Lady Owner: P M Racing Syndicate Trainer: W. P. Mullins	Dean Pratt	Star Man is a lovely chestnut gelding. As a yearling, Star Man was bought for £160,000. Star Man is a ten year old and ran nine times but didn’t win. He is retired now into RACE for the trainee apprentices to ride.
Skipo By: Theatrical - Paloma Blance Owner: Dr. Michael Smurfit Trainer: D.K. Weld	Maria Sage	Skipo is a grey gelding. He is about 15.3 hh. He ran in 2 National Hunt Flat Races in 1997. He was ridden by D.T. Evans and M. J. Kinane in Down Royal and Tramore.
Derrymoyle By: Callernish - Luminous Lady Owner: Herb M. Stanley Trainer: Michael Cunnigham	Martin Kelly	Derrymoyle has 5 wins in Ireland: 3 in Punchestown, 1 in Navan and 1 in Wexford. Derrymoyle also has wins in England. A. P. McCoy, P. Carberry and M. P. Dwyer are the jockeys who have won with him in Ireland. He was forced to retire from horse racing due to leg injuries and is now with RACE.

Quality Team By: Diesisex - Ready for Action Owner: Michael W. Smurfit Trainer: D.K. Weld	Seán McGuinness	Quality Team is a 7 year old bay gelding. He won 3 races and was ridden by P.J. Shanahan in all 3. He won the IAWS Curragh Cup which was a Group 3 race worth £42,000. He is now with RACE.
Old Ben By: Old Vic - Into the Wood Owner: Mrs. S. Lenehan Trainer: Francis Ennis	Jonathan Mulhall	He ran eleven times, 10 times over jumps and once on the flat. He never won a race; the best he did was to come 5th.
Amble Speedy By: Lancastrian - Speedy Debbie Owner : Robin Minnis Trainer : A. L. T. Moore	Alan McNulty	Amble Speedy is a bay gelding. In 1990 he ran seventeen times and won four times on the track. Amble is having a lovely time at RACE.
Irish Emperor By: Tirol - Hazy Image Owner: Rudy Weiss Trainer: M.J. Grassick	Hugh McKenna	Bay gelding, 1998. This horse won 4 races and was placed 4 times. 3 of his races were at the Curragh Racecourse. He is now retired at R.A.C.E
Dazzling Guest By: Naheez (U.S.A) - Northern gift Owner: John F O’Connor Trainer: Miss I.T. Oakes	John Whelan	Dazzling Guest ran 8 times only in IRELAND. He won 4 times, was 3rd once and 5th twice. He started racing in May 1998 and stopped running in June 1999. He was ridden by J.F. Titley and R.P. McNally.
Wimbledon Second set-Rarely irish Owner: Tie-Break syndicate Trainer: D. K. Weld	Karen Morgan	Wimbledon ran 34 times with 4 wins. P.J. Smullen won 3 times while riding him; D.T. Evans won once. Wimbledon is now retired in RACE due to bow tendons.
