Reply to review by Kevin Egan
Reading Mr Egan's review of Shannonbridge I was taken back
to say
the least as were all the other Players in the Club. Any Writer
is
entitled to his opinion and we will take his criticism on board as it
Will be used as motivational material for the coming Season.
I presume Kevin is a Footballer himself although I have
never
heard of him! as only a Footballer could write a review like his
one.
I hope to meet the Shark on the Terraces but more importantly on the
Football field some day.

8-11-04 Time for Change in the running of Offaly GAA?
Its that time of year again for the GAA world to switch
their attention to political matters concerning the organisation.
There has been a lot of unrest within Offaly with both
our County
Footballers and Hurlers speaking up as to what they believe
are the
necessary changes needed for our County to be successful.
As a Club Player I totally agree with
their requests and believe our Players should be the County boards
number one priority.
The Offaly club members, particularly Players
must put brave and
open minded people forward to represent their clubs at County board
level, in order to see change.
With AGM's coming up all 0ver the County in the
next few weeks
this is the time to find people in your club who have the interest of
the Players at heart, to shake up the outlook of County board.
Remember the GAA is a democratic organisation that does not
need
dictators, its in your hands to put the right people forward from your
Club if you want to see a change in the running of the Offaly County
board.
Light training resumes
Shannonbridge Seniors and Juniors returned for some light
training last Friday night and had an excellent turnout.
All players are welcome to be in the field next Friday at 8pm
1-11-04 Review of the year
2004 has been a mixed year for the
Bridge with our Senior
Footballers winning three from five Championship matches. Our Juniors
had some great results in the Junior A
Championship beating Tullamore and Clara. The highlight of the
year for the club was winning the
division
four league title beating a much fancied Gracefield in the
Final. Our under 21's who are combined with St Rynaghs were
beaten by eventual winners Rhode, while our Minors bowed out to
Gracefield after
a replay at the semi final stage.
Shannnonbridge were unable to
field an under 16 team, while
our
under 14, 12 and 10 players joined with Ferbane/ Belmont and
reached
and under 10 and under 12 Football finals but were beaten in
both. It seems Shannonbridge made a great contribution to
Ferbane/
Belmont when they won the Under 10 Hurling title.
The Club wish to thank all
involved, both players and
Management
who give so much of their time and effort to keep the club thriving
throughtout the year.
