Painting spinner spirals
This is my method
for painting spinner spirals.
Step 1.
Cut thin wedges
of masking tape.
For this, I use a cutter and a steel ruler using an old tile (a piece of glass
will also work) as a cutting surface.
Step 2.
Paint the spinner
in the lighter colour, white in this case.
Step 3
Apply the thin
wedges of masking tape in a spiral pattern around the spinner.
The thinner the
wedge, the easier it will conform to the curved surface.
Press the masking
tape well around the spinner.
Fill the space between the two wedges of masking tape with masking fluid.
Step 4.
Spray paint the
darker colour. Mist the paint at low pressure. Do not allow it to build
up into “wet spots”,
as this will allow paint to be “pulled” under the masking tape by capillarity.
Build up the paint slowly.
Step. 5
Remove the
masking tape.
That is it!
