About
the Ranunculaceae Society
|
 |
The Ranunculaceae Society was founded on 4th November
2003 in Dublin, Ireland. The Society aims to promote
the planting and cultivation of many different genera,
species and cultivars belonging to the buttercup family,
Ranunculaceae, in our gardens.
Aims
The Society was founded to:
- Foster a deeper and wider interest in the wealth
of garden plants, which belong to the buttercup family
- Ranunculaceae.
- Develop and disseminate in-depth information (horticultural
and botanical) about the different genera of plants
in cultivation at geographically diverse venues.
- Promote wider availability and distribution of little-known
genera, species and cultivars.
- To ensure large-scale cultivation and preservation
of all known genera, species and cultivars. In particular
we aim to encourage all gardeners to cultivate and
enjoy as many plants as possible, which belong to
this family.
Activities
- 3 or 4 national and international meetings annually
of illustrated lectures, discussions, demonstrations,
study days and symposia.
- Joint meetings with other societies such as the
Clematis, Delphinium, Hardy Plant and Alpine Societies.
- National and international garden and specialist
nursery visits.
