Tipperary 1889

Tipperary 1889 is a database compiled from Bassett’s Directory of Tipperary 1889, described as follows,

The Book of County Tipperary

A manual and directory for manufacturers, merchants, traders, professional men, land-owners,

farmers, tourists, anglers and sportsmen generally.

by

George Henry Bassett

DUBLIN 1889

The database consists of 10,000 records with the following fields,

 Ref No

 Title

 First Name

 Last Name

 Group (Trade, Profession, Business etc)

 Address (Street, Townland)

 Town

  Notes

The database follows he structure of the original directory starting with general data on Co Tipperary, followed by the main postal towns and sub post offices.

Since the lay out is based on postal districts, in border areas of the county, some residents of Co Tipperary may be served by

a Post Office which is in a contiguous county eg Callan, Co Kilkenny.

Some persons may have multiple entries eg as a public office holder and the owner of a business.
