Céad Míle Fáilte to Junior Infants!
A very warm welcome to our 21 new infants who have begun their school life in Rathcormac. We hope they will be very happy during their years in our school.
A warm welcome too to the 6 pupils who have joined us from other schools. Céad Míle Fáilte!
Congratulations!
Congratulations to two boys who took part in the Community Games Swimming Finals in Dublin in August. One boy came 3rd in the Boys' Under 13 50m Backstroke; another boy came 5th in the Boys' Under 11 50m Backstroke. That is a great achievement at National level, well done both boys!
Congratulations too to two girls who won the under 12 traditional music duet in the All Ireland Feis in Letterkenny this summer. Again a great achievement and both played at our first assembly of the year. We were well entertained. Well done!

Cross Country Athletics
Congratulations to all our athletes who participated in the County Championships in Calry. The school was well represented by 5 teams who all performed excellently. Three of these teams qualified for the Connaught finals which were held in Ballina on Saturday October 7th. Our Junior boys qualified in 1st place and both Junior and Senior girls qualified in 2nd place. At the Connaught finals these athletes once again ran extremely well and all finished a very demanding course. Well done to all and we wish our boys' team every success in the all Ireland Finals. Many thanks to Brian McBride who has trained all the teams and organised their participation in the competition.
Operation Christmas Card
Last year, with the generosity of parents and pupilsof Rathcormac National School, we sent 160 shoe boxes filled with presents for needy boys and girls in Eastern Europe and Africa. The school intends to take part in Operation Christmas Child again this year. Leaflets will be distributed to all families and boxes are to be ready by Friday 10th November.
Sixth Class Explore Stone Age Technology!
Geat fun was had making bows and arrows at home as part of our history homework. All were tested at school and the most successful bow is pictured below. Our thanks to parents who entered into the spirit of things and helped with materials and expertise. (I don't know who enjoyed it most!)
