September 2004Welcome Back to School! Here we are at the start of a new year, new classes, new teachers and a new intake of students into Junior Infants. We wish them well as they start their school career. To parents who are leaving their children with us for the first time, we know it is hard, but we will take good care of them, and, in partnership with you, help them to develop and reach their full potential whatever that might be.
WELCOME JUNIOR INFANTS!
A special welcome to students joining us in other classes. We have three children from Germany and two students originally from Korea. We especially welcome them and ask all pupils to go out of their way to include them in their games and groups. It is not easy learning in a language that is not your own. We also welcome back two pupils who have spent a year abroad in Spain. To all parents, pupils and staff, we look forward to a great year together. Partnership is the key to success! AssembliesAll children and staff are gathering together in the hall for an assembly every two weeks. Here we can celebrate our achievements, remind each other of forthcoming events, school rules and other whole school business. It is a time to develop our sense of being part of a larger community than just our own class. At our first assemby we had a minute's silence in solidarity with the children of the school in Russia that was subject to the terrorist attack. We welcomed new students and we had a presentation of the school's golden rules by 6th class. We also sang a few songs together! The children were extremely well behaved and thanks is due to 6th class pupils for helping organise the assemby and setting a good example. Well done. Rathcormac Golden Rules1.
