In Brief
The
7th Annual General Meeting of the Finn Harps Co-operative Society took place
in the Finn Valley Centre, Stranorlar on 7th March and the clubs shareholders
heard that for the third year running, the club had made a trading profit.
The
shareholders that were told that this years trading profit was €24,510
and with gate receipts totalling over €185,000, Harps had record income
figures of €417,702, beating the cup final year of 1999. This figure
was also boosted by the €35,000 raised by the shirt sponsorship draw.
Expenditure
for the year amounted to €391,708 with players wages being responsible
for the largest outgoings. The good news on the overall debt front is that
it is down from €540,000 three years ago to just over €250,000
now.
Shareholders
were also informed that the club had gained a 'B' type license for the First
Division for the coming season. The only criteria preventing the club from
receiving an 'A' license was not surprisingly spectator facilities.
There
were also four new board members added to the board of directors, bringing
it to the maximum number of 15. The new members are Trevor Gordon (Letterkenny),
Anne Kelly (Ballybofey), Denise O'Neill and James Rodgers (both Stranorlar.
They join the other eleven outgoing directors who were once again re-elected.
They are JW McNulty, Peter Toner, Sean Quinn, Joe Doherty, Damien McCarron,
Ian Curristan, Christian Carbin, Derek Wilkinson, Alex Brady, Seamus Gallagher
and Liam Breen.
