Finn Harps 0 - 1 Bray Wanderers

'Tarzan' O'Brien returned to haunt Finn Harps once again, as the Donegalmen lost their first home game of the season as they come to terms with the shock resignation of Noel King after last weekend.

The man responsible for breaking Harps hearts in the FAI Cup Final of 1999 did it again as he scored the only goal of the game in what was a hugely disappointing response from the players following another below-par performance in Galway the week previous.

Sean 'Wizard' McGowan took over in a temporary capacity for the second time in as many seasons as The Harps find themselves once again manager less. They had started well with Asokuh and McHugh both wasting good chances and a Bray defender nearly heading into his own net from a Paddy McGrenaghan cross but Bray took the lead on 25 minutes.

Ciaran Ryan crossed from the left and O'Brien scored from a free-header to give the Seasiders the lead. It came against the run of play but Harps continued to dominate with Mohan and McGrenaghan shooting wide from good positions. Maurice Farrell did well to clear for a corner when Shane Bradley looked certain to score and then Kevin McHugh wasted a glorious opportunity just before half-time.

Wizard: In Charge Again

A pin-point cross from Neil Lloyd gave the front man a free header from seven yards but he somehow headed over the bar when it looked easier to score.

Pat Devlin showed his experience for the second-half as his side came out and defended in numbers with the intention of frustrating Harps. It was the ease with what they did it that would have irritated the home fans and apart from an effort from substitute Gary Crossan in injury time, Harps gave them very little to cheer about.

Harps are now five points off the pace and lie in fifth place with UCD, Kildare County, Bray and Sligo all above them and will need the panel to be strengthened considerably if they are to achieve their title aspirations.

FINN HARPS: James Gallagher, Eloka Asokuh, Jonathan Minnock, Declan Boyle, Martin Ferry, Paddy McGrenaghan, Tom Mohan, Neil Lloyd, Shane Bradley , Kevin McHugh, Niall Bonner. Subs: Sean Friars for Bonner 68 mins, Sean McGowan, Ross Connolly for Asokuh 83 mins, Gary Crossan for Lloyd 76 mins, Gavin Cullen.
