Irish Red Cross Society

Welcome to our website for the Irish Red Cross in the Carlow Area.

The Irish Red Cross was established by an act of the Oireachtas on the 1st August 1939. Today the society has over 13,000 members in over 100 branches nationwide and a fleet of over 50 ambulances.

Through the branch network, Irish Red Cross volunteers offer services to those in need in our communities and support for International Red Cross relief operations overseas.

In Carlow Area, the Red Cross is represented by two Branches- Carlow and Bagnelstown. Each of these towns also hosts an active Uniformed Unit with an Ambulance and trained personnel ready and willing to respond to event organisers who need to provide First Aid cover at events. These personnel and their equiptment are also prepared to respond as quickly as possible to any major incident where the County or National Emergency Plan is put into action and the services of the Voluntary Emergency Services are required.
