Greyhound Rescue

Welcome to Rescued-Greyhound Owners (Ireland)

This is a website intended for people who won greyhounds as pets or would like to own one as a pet, or  who are simply interested in the welfare of greyhounds. Our aim is to promote greyhounds as companion dogs and family pets.

We begin this website with a copy of our leaflet, which we distribute when and where we can, and will give you more detailed information of what we are all about:

How you can help

You don't have to adopt a greyhound in order to help these dogs! If you have been thinking about adopting one, but are not sure, you could always try to foster one temporarily. Fostering is an arrangement several dog rescues offer, where they provide food and other necessities, and you provide the dog with a safe and caring environment. Most rescues will homecheck you first, and will not give you a dog which is unsuitable for your situation. If you have questions about this, feel free to email us.

You can also help by volunteering to transport greyhounds which need to go from one rescue to another, or sometimes to the ferries enroute to the UK. Some rescue groups will let you come and walk the dogs, others will accept other kinds of volunteer work.

There are also many greyhound welfare groups throughout Ireland, the UK, and the US which would appreciate any donations and encouragement. We plan to provide a list of these places on this site in the coming weeks.
