Ringsend Technical Institute is a modern highly equipped school, rebuilt in 1981, situated on the Liffey by the East Link bridge, offering easy access by (Lansdowne Rd., Barrow St.) and a short bus ride from the city centre (No.'s 2, 3.)
The school has offered a repeat leaving certificate course for over 30 years with a reputation for success based on experience and dedication of our staff
The Programme
We currently offer a range of 18 subjects. 14 at higher only, 4 at both levels. Class sizes average at below 20 students.
Repeat students do not share classes with the main stream 2-year leaving cert students. As a publicly funded school we offer the course for a fee of £140 (medical-card holders £40)
The Student
The school runs an advice centre during the last two weeks of August. Each student is interviewed by appointment and advised on their subject choices in order to find the best route for entry to their chosen third-level courses.
Frequent assessment, daily and monthly attendance monitoring, and the availability of professional guidance and counselling service in a structured and caring environment provide an excellent platform for achievement and development.
Examinations are held in December to assess student progress. A study skills seminar is held early in the spring term.
The Parent
The school encourages parental involvement at all times. Parents are promptly informed of problems and a fay long parent- teacher meeting is held in january to allow parents to meet each other and discuss problems and progress in depth.
The Result
Our experience of students who complete this course is one of significant academic improvement, growth in maturity, development of study discipline and the social skills required for enjoyment and success at third level.
