Some good news and some bad news…

THE GOOD NEWS

The good news is that on March 4th 2005, Rollers/Sparkers will perform live in Temple Bar Music Centre as the special guests of God Is An Astronaut (GIAA). It will mark the first Dublin performance by R/S since last September’s Spiegeltent show with Colleen. GIAA will be launching their new album “All Is Violent, All Is Bright” with a full audio-visual show. Also playing will be the erstwhile frontman of much-acclaimed Whipping Boy, Fearghal McKee, who will be making a long-awaited return to live performance. Tickets are now available from Ticketmaster at €15. Doors will open at 7.30pm and the gig will finish at 10.30pm. Also playing on the night will be Clockwork Noise.

LONDON SHOW

Rollers/Sparkers are currently organising a London show. We will announce the date and the venue for this as soon as possible so that you can charter the plane in good time.

“RED BRIDGE” COMPILATION

The uber-frenetic dribble-beat Rollers/Sparkers track “Criss Path” appears on a recently launched Risc Records compilation CD entitled “Red Bridge”. For more details on this handsome edition, see www.riscrecords.com.

“WAKE UP” ON “PLASTIC DONKEY”

Ronan Doyle’s humourously enigmatic video for the Rollers/Sparkers track “Wake Up” has appeared in a DVD ‘zine entitled “Plastic Donkey”. To procure a copy of this unusual multimeeja item, go to www.plasticdonkey.com. The video itself is well worth checking out and can be found at http://www.rollerssparkers.com/rollerssparkers_wake-up.wmv.

BUY OUR STUFF

The aforementioned “Criss Path” and “Wake Up”, by the way, can be found on the Rollers/Sparkers album “Second Level Crossing”, which is still available. If you haven’t yet got a copy, we would urge you to do so, for obvious reasons. While badly wanting to remain modest, it’s not entirely unreasonable to point out that “Second Level Crossing”, or tracks from it, appeared on several people’s “Best of 2004” lists. We could tell you who those people are, but we don’t think it’s fair to them. Also, it serves us better to pretend the number is in the double figures, which itisn’t.

GRAND STRETCH IN THE EVENINGS…

With the moon streaming in the windows like that, you’d nearly feel the need to take that jumper off, wouldn’t you? That’s why we’d like to remind you that Rollers/Sparkers t-shirts are still available. Featuring a choice illustration from the inside sleeve of “Second Level Crossing”, we feel that these elegant torso sleeves will in future years be as collectible as, say, the shoe that falls from Cary Grant’s foot as the great actor clings to Mount Rushmore in “North by Northwest”. All you need to buy either a t-shirt or a CD is a PayPal account. Just go to http://www.paypal.com, follow the link for sending money and transfer the appropriate amount to goods "at" rollerssparkers.com (we can't write the address the correct way as it attracts spammers). The CD costs €12 (plus €1.50 postage), while the t-shirts cost €15 (plus €1.50 postage) each.

THE BAD NEWS

More havoc in the almond industry. Apparently the insidious varroa mite doesn’t even have any interest in almonds or the trees they grow on. To find out more, click here: http://www.beekeeping.co.nz/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1838
