The Ruan Limousin Herd was set up by Sean and Marian Lyons at Adroon, Ruan, Co.Clare, Rep. Ireland, in 1995. Sean was back in 1989 regional Dairy Farmer of the Year. Since entering Limousin breeding the has been built up to thirty two pure bred cows and their followers as well as a further eighteen cross bred cows which are gradually being replaced by more pure breds. The herd has been largely built on A.I. usage making considerable use of the Espoir bull, but has also had great success in the use of stock sire Ardlea Moss, a son of Justicier, bred by Dan Tynan in the Arlea Herd, Mountrath, Co.Laois. Moss is now for sale.
Above are Sean and Marion with Ardlea Moss and tremendous array of trophies and prizes won on the show circuit in 2000 Below we see a selection of the replacement heifers, seen on the occasion of the herd's open day at the end of September 2002.
