Ernest
Ruckle was born in Neptune, New Jersey, USA, in 1940. He specialized
in literary criticism at Rutgers University and became an artist
in 1963. He has exhibited in galleries and museums across America
and has had ten one-man shows in New
York. He has lived in Ireland since 1986. "Stupefying."
The Village Voice. "Noteworthy among the
unknowns." The New York Times.
His
training in the careful methods of literary criticism has made
him impatient with the more casual methods of art criticism
and has alienated him from the art mainstream. In 1978 he wrote
an essay on the need for reforming art criticism. Click here
