Green Schools Update Ms Lucey and the Green Team are busy as usual, making every effort to ensure our school is an environmentally friendly place for us to work and play. We received our Green Flag during a wonderful ceremony in early Spring last year. However our efforts don’t end there! The whole school is involved in our green school campaign. Here are just a few examples of our ‘green’ activities. |
Waste reduction and recycling |
Fruit and food waste is added to the compost heap every day after lunch
break. Excess packaging is avoided by encouraging everyone to bring
reusable lunchboxes to school. Ink cartridges and batteries are
collected and recycled on a regular basis.
|
Save the Boglands |
The children in third class are actively involved in collecting used stamps from all the children in the school. Theses stamps are sold and the money raised is donated to the Irish Peat land Conservation group. |
Litter Patrol
|
Despite our best efforts at keeping the school tidy, the children in fourth class are never idle when it comes to picking up litter during litter patrol duty. |
Bird feeding |
Second
class children are encouraging birds to visit our school by creating and
maintaining homemade bird feeders.
|
Energy control |
We are attempting to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing the amount of energy we consume. We unplug all electrical items when not in use. The 'glimmer men' patrol the school to help reduce over consumption of energy. |

Honk! |
The cast and crew of Honk enthralled us all with four magical performances in early 2007. After months of hard work, the tale of an ugly duckling who transforms into a beautiful swan was brilliantly staged in the Draíocht theatre in Blanchardstown. The show was warmly received by all who attended and will live on in our memories for many years to come. Congratulations to all who were involved! |
