Our School

The Dominicans first came to Dun Laoghaire or Kingstown as it was then known in 1847. They established a convent in a house called Echo Hall. This house has since been demolished to make way for Bloomfield Shopping Center. It was a time of hunger, famine fever and great suffering. On the 21st November 1848 Father Mc Cabe blessed and opened their new National School.
That school building was replaced in 1974 by the one we use today.
In November 1998 the President Mary McAleese, Archbishop Desmond Connell and other important people helped us celebrate our 150th anniversary in St. Michael's Church.
Today we are a vibrant school. We are leaders in integrating ICTs into our curriculum. We have computers in every classroom. We participate in the Schools Integration Project 'Empowering Minds' Our art curriculum is excellent. We have a bright cookery room and a beautiful library. We participate in the National Children's Choir. Pat Connelly teaches Irish dancing and musical movement to all. Soccer and Gaelic Football are also played
We not only look back with pride in our achievements but we also look forward in hope to the future and all its challenges.
