The Mercy Sisters came to Monasterevin on September 29th, 1898. There were
four nuns who came here. They set up a school which had two rooms known as
"The Roost". The Roost was in a corner building facing the canal. A
new school was built in 1905 beside the church. Work began on Scoil Eimhín
Naofa in 1978 and the school opened on 1st. September 1979. It is a single
storey building with twelve classrooms.
