Moore Abbey

Moore Abbey stands on the site of   the Cistercian Monastery. It is a large mansion built in Gothic style.

 Lord Drogheda lived there. 

John Count McCormack lived there from 1925 to 1939. There was a fire in the west wing in 1947 and it was very badly damaged.

 The Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary bought Moore Abbey in 1945. A lot of people from Monasterevin work in Moore Abbey. It is a home for the mentally disabled. There is a daytime workshop for clients from Co. Kildare and Co. Laois.'
