Grand Master Shoto Tanemura is indeed a most unique man. Even in Japan it is rare to find a Grand master of such immense quality and knowledge, a true warrior with eyes that look out from a distant past, through the present and into the future. Tanemura Shoto Sensei started his martial training at the age of nine in the most traditional sense. Although Sensei majored in law he decided to put his martial experience to good use by joining the Tokyo Metropolitan Police where he became a Police self defense instructor and member of the 'Kidotai' (riot and anti terrorist task force), having been involved in many confrontations with the Yakuza (Japanese gangsters) and the red army. He has also advised the New York Police Dept, the F.B.I. and others on both practical self protection and defense matters as well as teaching traditional martial arts. As the guardian of these ancient arts Tanemura Sensei has made it his life's mission to pass on the true teachings on Ninpo and to share his knowledge with all those who come to train with a true heart.

Although already Grand master Tanemura Sensei was further awarded in 1989 the Grand masterships of various ryu/ha, the better known being Takagi yoshin ryu Ju Jutsu and Gikan ryu Ninpo, from Grand master Sato Kinbei (one of Takamatsu Sensei's longest serving students). He was also awarded the very special and unique position as Grand master of 'AMATSU TATARA' the inner heart of Ninpo, along with all scrolls, densho (secret books) and Kuden (secret teachings) Tanemura Sensei has opened the door to a unique and beautiful martial art, a door that was heavily guarded for many centuries.
