Green Schools Project

We are involved in the Green Schools Project which is a well defined,
controllable way for us to to take environmental issues from the
curriculum and apply them to the day to day running of our school.
This process will help our pupils recognise the importance of
environmental issues and take them more seriously in their personal
and home lives.

At the moment we are working on litter and waste management. All of
the classes have carried out their own survey on litter in our school
grounds and also on the main street in Celbridge. We evaluated the
findings and each class is working on litter awareness.

As part of the project each class throughout the school emptied out
their lunchboxes -after they had eaten their lunch- into a pile in the
schoolyard. We were very surprised by the result and now realise why
we bring home our lunch rubbish each day.
