Witches
At night when it's all dark and scary,
I peek from my covers quite warm,
On the wall are shadows so tall,
Pointed hats, capes and noses all hairy,
My mum says I must be dreaming,
When I spy witches high on the ceiling,
But they keep me awake with the noise that they make,
All that ear-piercing cracking and screaming,
They love casting spells late at night,
Their cauldron glows with light,
It bubbles and spits slimy green bits,
And gives me a teddy bear at night.

Halloween

Halloween night I went out with my friend. We got a lot of sweets. Then we went to his house and had a party. It was fun. On the day before we got our holiday's we had a party. It was good fun.

Fire Fighters

Third class, went to see the Fire Fighters base a few weeks ago. This was in conjunction with the 'Children's Book Festival' when we attended a talk by Donal Reilly, the Fire Officer in Ballina Library. We watched a film about Fire Safety and another called BACKDRAFT. Afterwards we went to the fire station where Mossie Ryan gave us a guided tour around the place. We saw the Fire trucks and hoses, ladders and other equipment. We saw a fireman who came back from a call-out. He showed us his gear, his special jacket, trousers and helmet. I think firemen are cool because they save lives.

Notice to Parents

The children will be going carol singing in Dunnes Stores on Monday 22nd of December. We are raising money for a girl called Elaine Fox who is working in Kenya, with very, very poor families. The money we raise will go directly to Elaine to help keep the local orphanage running. The village she is in has been ravaged by malnutrition, malaria and Aids. Please support your children with this very worthy cause.
Yours Sincerely
Y. Lavelle.

Trip to the vet

We went to the library this month to listen to a local vet. She showed us some animal x-rays. We learned the following.
· She showed us how vets mend domestic animals broken bones.
· Dogs should be fed twice a day. They should also be brought for a walk.
· There are special toys that are safe for animals to play with.
