CUILI LEAGUE FINAL

Hurling Coach Adrian Hession recently supervised the Scoil Phádraig Cúili League. Six teams competed carrying the colours of Kilkenny, Cork, Tipperary, Clare, Galway and Limerick. The Galway and Limerick teams qualified for the final with Limerick winning by two goals to one. A goal from S. Kilkenny midway through the first half gave Limerick the lead but S. Strogen equalised shortly afterwards. A draw seemed a likely result following several near misses by both sides but a late L. McGuire goal won the game for Limerick. Teams: Limerick: L. McGuire, D Durcan, C. Doyle, A. Moyles and S. Kilkenny. Galway: S. Strogen, D. Carr, R. Leonard, R. Devers and F. Cunningham. Referee: Adrian Hession. A big thank you to Mr. O'Brien for organising the league!!!

Middle Benchball League 04.

Last January Mrs. Hickey announced that the two fourth classes were having a benchball league. Six captains were picked randomly and they were Ciarán, Peter, Gerard, Oisín, Shane and Rory. Each captain selected 6 players for his team. We played four games every Thursday at 12 p.m. for four weeks. Elaine and Mrs. Hickey refereed the matches .The next week was the play offs and we were all very exited. Gerard's team and Ciarán's team qualified for the final on 22nd April 2004.The game started as the crowd cheered the teams on. Ciarán's team was very strong in the first half. Richard and Shane were brilliant ball handlers. Shane Leroy and David were fast and skilful forwards. Ciaran was fantastic on the bench. Gerard's team made a great comeback in the second half. Tommy was terrific on the bench. David and Patrick passed the ball perfectly. Gerard, Keith and Naoise scored first rate points. But it proved to be too late. Ciarán's team won and the score was 26 - 24.

The team that brought home the Moclair Cup for the 17th time in the 32 year history of this competition.

Moclair cup.

This year we celebrated the 31st annual reunion and football tournament between Star of the Sea, Sandymount and Scoil Phádraig BNS, Ballina. The Dublin boys came to Ballina from March 19th 21st. But the weather was terrible and the Scoil Phádraig pitch was flooded so we had to play on St Muredach's college pitch. It was a difficult match and the end result was just 3 points all.
On Friday the 23rd of April we went to Sandymount in Dublin to play the second leg of the Moclair cup. After the first 5 minutes of the game we were down 2 points and I thought it was all over. But we showed good spirit to come back and we were five points up going into half time. After half time they scored a point and a goal which left it with just one point in it until the last 5 minutes when we got a 45. D. Cawley took it and R. Kenny got his fist to it and scored. We knew we had it won.
