Mimura
is the revolutionist in the group of 42. Unlike all the others,
Mimura wants to stand up and fight those who have put him on the
island - the government. Having an uncle who is an activist is very
handy, especially when you need to know how to produce bombs and
the like. Mimura and his two friends (Yutaka and Iijima), much like
Utsumi, have found themselves their own headquarters. From here,
the three plot against Kitano and the soldiers in a way to beat
the system. According to Mimura, blowing up the school on the island
would end the game and they would have their way to freedom...
His
main skill is computer hacking. Upon starting the game, he and his
group immediatly start upon crashing the main computers. He has
a gift of understanding technology and immediatly notices that the
neck collars they are fitted with contain radio mics, to which Kitano
and his gang can listen in.
Mimura
is close friends with Yutaka and Iijima. He's also friendly with
Sugimura, stops by Mimuras h.q. whilst on his mission. Nanahara
is good friends with Mimura also and it is through the last 1/3
of the movie in which Nanahara makes his journey to him. Megumi,
Norikos best friend, had a crush on Mimura, but due to the game,
he never found this out...
Shinji
is a born leader. We see this from the way he orders his friends
about, from the way he has his own desk set up in the building and
from the way he says when to do what. Unlike Utsumi, Mimura is perfectly
capable of keeping a group together. In fact, after Mimura hacks
the governments systems, it almost looks like he could follow through
and destroy his oppressers. He came very close to over throwing
the higher powers, but alas one person stood in his way... #06 himself,
Kiriyama.
"When we escape....it will be together"
Mimura
was almost right by saying this. He had hoped to escape to freedom
but instead, he and his companions were gunned down. In a last attempt
to make his mark, Mimura sacrifices himself in order to take down
Kiriyama. By setting off the explosion at close range, Mimura managed
to severely wound Kiriyama.
Its quite tragic just how close Mimura came to victory. Throughout
the movie, he has his serperate subplot and it definitely does look
like some good will come of it. But the unpredictability of the
game was something Mimura never seemed to take into account.
