Questions
can be e-mailed to me here....
but please do read the FAQ prior to contacting me. ^_^
SITE QUESTIONS:
Q. Any chance of adding more pictures/ completing
a section/ uploading sounds etc?
A. The site is still in progress. Any sections that aren't complete
now, will be in the near future. I feel this is a better way
of running a site, as it calls for regular updates.
Q. Man, thats a lot of pictures you have from the
movie! Any chance I can use them on my site?
A. I don't mind people doing this... under one condition: give
me full credit for the scans along with a link to the site.
Also, email me first and let me know if you are to use them
Q. How do I stop
those godamn annoying pop-ups from appearing every time I go
to the site?
A. You're obviously still using the old address. Please use
www.battleroyaleonline.com from now on...
MERCHANDISE:
Q. Any idea where I can find myself a Battle Royale
T-shirt/ Poster/ Merchandise?
A. Unfortunately theres not a lot of merchandise out there to
buy on the web. You're best bet would probably be to check out
auction sites like eBay.
Q. Can you tell me where to get the Battle Royale
soundtrack?
A. Buy it at CDJapan. You can't go wrong with this cd. Essential listening
for a BR fan! Check out the review here. You can also buy a French version of the soundtrack
at Amazon France
Q. What is the song that plays on the end credits
and is it on the soundtrack?
A. The song is by a Japanese band called "Dragon Ash".
The name of the song is "Shizukana Hibi no Kaidan Wo"
. This song is not on the soundtrack, but you can download it
from here
Q. Any other songs not on the soundtrack?
A. Two more I can think of: The music that plays after Nanahara
remembers his father at the restaurant and the BR Radio Excercise
music ;_;.
Q. So Battle Royale is based on a novel and a manga...
Where can I get english versions of either?
A. According to this story,
the novel will be released by the end of the year. No word on
a translated manga however....
DVD:
Q. Where can I buy the Region 2 Battle Royale dvd
that you have reviewed on this site?
A. It can be bought from CDJapan. A great company that do speedy deliveries. Just
make sure you have enough bucks for the disc, as they can be
a little expensive
Q. Ok... So I don't have THAT much money to spare
and besides, I need English Subs... What do I do?
A. The cheaper alternative is the Hong Kong DVD. You'll be getting
an inferior picture quality and none of the extras listed in
the review, but you will get a DTS track and those precious
English subs all for about $10. You can buy it here at DDDHouse.
Q. You're still not helping me! I live in the UK/Ireland
and can't order over the net... What do I do?
A. Tartan Video have a Region 0 release on DVD and also a VHS
version.
Q. Is the UK DVD
cut?
A. No. Not one second is cut from the UK release of the film
Q. Yeah,
but the running time for the UK dvd is 109mins while the running
time for all other releases is 113mins...Explain that!!!
A. The UK dvd is a PAL transfer. All other releases are NTSC.
Because of the difference in frame-rate between PAL and NTSC,
PAL transfers are always sped-up by 4%. This explains the difference
of 4mins. I can assure you that the DVD is not cut in anyway....please.....just
believe me!!! Please
refer here for more details on the 4% speedup issue
Q. Any sign of a Region 1 release?
A. As Battle Royale hasn't been released theatrically in the
US, theres no word on a region 1 release yet...
Q. Is Special Version
available on DVD yet?
A. No....not at the moment. The upcoming Japanese DVD will not
have any English subs
VCD:
Q. What is the quality of the VCD
like? What do I need to watch it?
A. The VCD was released in June 2001 by Universe in Hong Kong.
Its basically the film in mpeg format, split onto two cds. The
quality would be slightly inferior to VHS but perfectly acceptable
to watch. It does come with English subs (that run simultaneously
with Chinese subs) so that should be a major factor in helping
you decide to buy it. The VCD can be viewed on most DVD players.
That being said however, it didn't work on mine so make sure
your player is compatible before you purchase. If not, then
the VCD can be viewed on a PC, providing it has some kind of
video program like Windows Media Player
MISC:
Q. Where can I get a copy of the "Special Version"?
A. A non-subbed version is set for release in Japan on DVD on
21st May 2002
Q. I've heard rumours of a Battle Royale sequel.
Will your site cater for it?
A. I'm not that big a fan of sequels, so I can't really say.
I might do upates on its release and depending on if its good
or not, then I might treat it with the same respect as the original...
Q. What?!?! Battle Royale 2? When? Wha? Huh?
A. I'm speculating. Nothing is solid yet. There's simply rumours
about a sequel...
Q. Can you do me a copy of Battle Royale on VHS?/
Can you copy the soundtrack for me?
A. Believe it or not, I get asked this a lot. The answer: No
can do. Buy them yourself! I had to!
Q. Why exactly do you run this site? Surely the picture
gallery takes up wayyy too much time?
A. I run this site basically because I feel Battle Royale is
one of the most important films in years. By making this site,
I'm giving information to the fans and maybe even introducing
the film to those who have never heard of it. Yes, that picture
gallery is time consuming, believe me when i say I never expected
that I'd have THAT many scans in there!
Now
that you've (hopefully) read the FAQ... has your question been
answered?
If not send
an email my way and I'll be glad to help ^_^
