24- The Game Rating: 3.5.

I played and early demo of this and was well impressed in how they captured the look, feel and sound of the TV series (of which I'm a big fan). The game was made in conjunction with the shows writers and stars and is set between series 2 and 3.

First the good. Nicely crafted game play: although feels a bit Die Hardish at times. Good variety with driving, shooting and puzzles etc. All with genuine 24 visuals. Even down to the shaky camera angles during the cut scenes. Also the split screen visuals work well, giving you a little hint to what else is happening and what lies ahead. Good use of frantic feel when you are talking on the phone dealing with other issues in the middle of fire fights - very Jack Bauer. I like the way the clock counts down and each level is treated as a episode/hour with the "following takes pace between.....".

The bad. Suffers from too much slow down when the screen gets busy. Multiple targets are hard to work with. Meaning you keep switching in mid fire fight. The driving scenes look very dated and the car handling is poor. The cars seem to glide rather than drive (developers should have taken a look at Burnout). Some of the visuals and textures are also poor and badly rendered. All of this problem do distract and annoy and stop this game from being a true classic. Finally when the sweet divine does it require over 900 K of you memory card to save?????? You could sum up this paragraph of gripes in one sentence. Lazy, poor coding and testing.

But hey, any game that allows you to play as Jack Bauer, gets and extra star for effort.

Update: Still plugging away at this and about half way through the game. Can't bee too bad then? Pick it up on Platium.....
