"A Tortured Soul II"

This animation began life as a brief clip animated on a Commodore Amiga (remember them) in Deluxe Paint 2. I began to storyboard a mini movie based on an American soldier suffering remorse for the acts he had committed in Vietnam. During development I read everything I could on Vietnam to gather as many pictures and images of the Country and events as possible. This ranged from books, films to magazines. During the creation I moved to an 486 windows computer and converted the Amiga (images only - not animations) to the p.c. format. I managed to get my hands on a very old copy of Deluxe Paint Animation for Dos and restarted the animation on the new format. All the images had to be resized as the resolution on P.C. was less than Amiga (believe it or not). The Finished animation comes in at just under 10.5 minutes. The music is a combination of soundtracks from Platoon and The killing Fields. All 15,000 + frames (approx) in this animation were drawn with a mouse. No capture of tracing options (although tempting at times) were used. Because of the unsupported .anm format. The finished animation had to be dumped out to video tape and captured back onto computer to allow conversion to avi format (and addition of audio track). It had to be over dubbed with a bad looping piece of music due to copyright restrictions. The music track on Sean's shack is how is was supposed to be viewed when I was creating it. Browse some of the rough work images here. and some of the props used. You can view the complete Animation in the Original file Directory (no music). These are raw animation files.
