I played and early demo of this and was well impressed with the game engine.
The visuals would not look out of place on an next gen machine, rather than
a humble out ps2. Could be argued that is a little like gun porn: as guns
are perfectly drawn and sound act as realistic as possible.
Gripes are slow cuts scenes that don't allow you to skip (why, god knows?).
Also the game can get a little repetitive (but this is the case with most
shooters and console games).
Good stuff. Great visuals. Great sound. Solid game play. Amazing game
engine: textures, rag doll physics and buildings that explode with visual
excellence (this is why there is no multiplayer). All make up a very
impressive swan song for the PS2. A benchmark of shooters from a team of
programmers who developed a benchmark for driving games (burnout): very
impressive coders. Will be keeping a close eye on how they handle next gen
coding in the future.
Great game that should be snapped up: may even get a
360/pc version of Black 2 (from what I hear)..
