Emulation

Updated: 12/10/2006

THE hottest emulation hardware at the moment is the PSP. With the correct hacks, and firmware reduction, you can get this device to emulate numerous systems (nitendo etc). Just do a google search for "hombrew psp" and you will get a good idea of what is needed.

Remake of the moment: Robocop 2d. Full remake of the '80's coin-op. Get it here.

Mame: Allows people to enjoy the long-lost arcade games and even some newer ones.

On December 24th, 1996, Nicola Salmoria began working on his single hardware emulators (for example Multi-Pac), which he merged into one program during January 1997. He named the accomplishment by the name of Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, or MAME for short (pronounced as the word 'maim' in English, other languages may differ).

The latest version supports over 4123 supported ROM sets. That means you can play over 4,000 "actual" arcade games on a P.C. through one interface. Staggering.

Play games like Pacman and space invaders through to streetfighter and Robocop.

The legal standings on the actual gaming roms is still a little hazy. A a lot of the companied involved view the practice as illegal. This means you may have to do a bit of searching to find the roms. But they are out there.
