Skerries Historical Society

The 'Old Skerries Society' was founded in 1948 to promote awareness of and conservation of local history, heritage and artifacts . . . It is now 'Skerries Historical Society' . . . We keep the past for pride.

The Society holds public lectures at 8.15 pm on the second Tuesday of each month from September to June. All are welcome to attend.

Our Society is about community endeavour; people coming together to create a certain type of community; to share ideas; to offer mutual friendship; to provide a support system and a set of standards. Our shared beliefs revolve around a respect for the past and for the place - the space we have inherited - at local level and beyond. That respect brings with it a wish to hand something on. ( Stephanie Bourke, AGM 2002.)
