  The Old Public Water Pump

This is the old public water pump, which was in great demand in the times before indoor plumbing.
I often had a drink from it in my National School days while imploring my friend not to pump too vigorously lest I be half drowned from the gushing water. Less than a quarter of a mile up this road is the National School. To the left of the photographer is the pre 1885 school house (now Byrne's house) and to the left of that is the church. The photo titled "looking west" was taken from  about 300 meters to the right of the photographer.
