Dromard in first round of Senior Championship 2005
The draws for the 2005 Park House
Hotel Senior Football Championship were made Monday (24 January)
at the monthly meeting of Longford Senior Board. The main draw of
the Championship will be without a doubt the clash between the
winners of the last two years Clonguish and last years runners up
Fr. Manning Gaels. Elsewhere in round one Carrickedmond play
Abbeylara, St. Brigid's play Cashel, St. Mary's play Sean
Connolly's, Colmcille play Emmet Óg, Mostrim play Ballymore,
Longford Slashers play Dromard and Ballymahon will play the losers
of Carrickedmond and Abbeylara.

Slashers and Shroid clash in Intermediate Championship
The draws for the 2005 Lakeland
Dairies Intermediate Football Championship were made Monday (24
January) with Longford Slashers drawn against Shroid in a local
derby in the first round. The other games in round one are St.
Patrick's v Colmcille, Clonguish play Kenagh, Rathcline v Legan
Sarsfields, St. Columba's play Dromard, Emmet Og play St. Mary's
and Gratten Og play the losers of St. Patrick's/Colmcille.

part in Junior Championship
The groups were drawn for the 2005
Lakeland Dairies Junior Football Championship Monday (24 January)
with 17 teams taking part in the 2005 Junior Championship.

Senior AGM
Our senior club
AGM was held on Sunday last in the clubhouse. At the AGM Ronan
McNevin opened the proceedings by welcoming everybody in attendance
to meeting. Club Secretary, Mickey Lynch then read his report for
the year when looking back on all the high points both on and off
the playing fields. Highlights on the playing fields included
winning the U-21 ‘A’ Championship, the Division 5 League and
securing promotion back to Division 1 of the All County League while
also performing well in the Senior Championship. Memorable moments
off the fields were the number of celebrations to celebrate the
club’s 50th Birthday Anniversary.
Club chairman
and former player, Ronan McNevin then delivered his annual address
to the meeting when looking back on the years activities when
mentioning the high points on the playing fields and all the
wonderful celebrations that took place to mark the club’s Golden
Jubilee year when a great weekend of events brought old Slashers
team-mates together again.
Club Treasure
Noel Caslin read his finance report for the year when thanking all
the sponsors and all that helped out during the year. The election
of officers then took place with all officers returning unopposed
for 2005. Michael O’Brien will take over as
County
Board
delegate for Jim McHugh for the coming year.

meetings will be held on the last Thursday of every month at 9pm in
the clubhouse. Dinner Dance: the annual Club Dinner dance will be
held towards the end of the month. No date finalized when going to

Longford
Slashers GAA Club are once again running a members club private
co-op draw, which will commence next month. Five monthly draws will
be held with 160,000 in prizes up for grabs and 150 great prizes.
