About Us

Sligo Light Aviation Club was established in 2002. With the standardisation of flight training requirements across Europe and the retirement of local enthusiasts from the sport, it became apparent that a new approach was required to provide aspiring pilots with a more professional approach to training and a greater diversity of experience for the qualified flyer. A lack of PPL graduates over a 5-year period and few opportunities for qualified pilots to expand their flying experience needed to be addressed. Sligo Light Aviation Club was established by a group of forward thinking aviators to carry on the tradition and enthusiasm of the early pioneers with three main objectives

bulletTo adopt a more structured approach to PPL training
bulletTo offer a greater diversity of flying experience to its members
bulletto take advantage of the new, affordable flying machines

The primary objective of Sligo Light Aviation Club is to establish and encourage General Aviation in the North West region of Ireland - both as a recreational activity and as a career opportunity

PPL training is provided by a group of dedicated instructors, the majority of whom are experienced professional pilots. They are committed to following a structured training syllabus to ensure the highest levels of student instruction, in a safe and friendly training environment. We strongly advise Don't settle for less !!.
