Crunch time in O'Neill's Handball leagues

The knock-out stages of the O'Neills Tyrone Handball leagues get underway from tonight with a host of enticing ties down for decision. The eagerly awaited action gets underway tonight in Loughmacrory where the 2007 Senior Singles champion, Shane O'Neill, will square up to last season's minor champion, Conor Duff. Following an unbeaten run this term, O'Neill will be favourite to claim a first Premier League crown but faces a tough challenge from the Loughmacrory teenager. That tie will be followed by the second quarter-final which will see Chris Curran and Padraig McGlinchey battle it out for a place in the last four. McGlinchey has been in impressive form this term and the prolific underage winner would hold the edge against the experienced Loughmacrory clubman.

The second two semi-finals are also sure to attract plenty of support in Carrickmore on Friday night. First up will be an eyecatching tie involving the 2007 Under 21 All-Ireland champion, Gary McCrory, and the 2007 Junior B All-Ireland champion, Ruairi Kelly. Both players adhere to a fast and furious offensive style of handball so that promises to be a cracking game. The second match will see last year's Tyrone senior doubles champions cross swords as Darragh Daly, unbeaten this season in Section B, face former senior champion, Niall Kerr. Another very tough one to call in what should be four hugely entertaining tussles. Following those four top class games, the action will then shift to Beragh on Sunday evening as the four winners will contest the Premier League semi finals.
