Sligo School Project was opened in temporary premises on The Mall in 1987. There were 84 children and 2 teachers.

Official opening by Mary O'Rourke in 1988

The school moved to its permanant location in Abbeyquarter in June 1999. Today it has an enrollment of 196 pupils. The staff consists of an Administrative Principal, seven Class teachers,a Learning Support teacher and two Resource teacher. Part time staff include a Office Administrator, Classroom Assistant, Language Teacher, Caretaker, Cleaner and Lollipop Person.

   

Over the years the school has been involved in many artistic, dramatic and environmental projects. These included stage productions of The French Revolution, Hiawatha and Oliver. Among our artistic successes were ceramic, mosaic and quilting projects. Awards were achieved for environmental projects such as The Riverside and Our Heritage of Games.You can click in Gallery to view some of these projects.

Our students have achieved much success in sport down throught the years. The school has marvellous sports facilities and swimming classes are included in the curriculum.
