Church Building

The outer walls of the Church are made from local limestone and red sandstone.

THE DEAD CHRIST                                                   John Hogan 1800-1858

A feature of the interior is a magnificent sculpture within the high altar by one of Irelands greatest sculptors John Hogan. He spent weeks selecting a perfect piece of white marble from the same Carrara quarries used by Michelangelo. The work was executed in Rome and shipped to Cork in 1832.
