Dear Parents,
Our Mid-term break will begin on Friday next the 28th February. School
will be closed on Friday 28th February (School Planning Day), Monday
3rd March, Tuesday 4th March and Wednesday 5th March (Curriculum Day).
School will re-open on Thursday the 6th of March at 9a.m.
Confirmation
The children of 6th class are busily preparing for Confirmation on
Saturday 1st of March. Mr. Kennedy’s class will be on retreat
on Tuesday next the 25th of February while Mrs Brooks class will have
their retreat on the following day – Wednesday. The Redemptorist
retreat team of Fr. Jim Gargan and Noel Kirby will work with the boys
and girls. The cost of the retreat is €5 per child.
Tesco Tokens
Our Tesco token collection is going well and we would ask you to bring
in every token each week. We are hoping to get digital projectors
and two computers this year. Mr. Kennedy has a total put up each week
in school to show how we are progressing.
I.T. – Support from local Companies
Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Tuohy have written to local companies
Dell and Analog looking for any I.T. support they can give in the
way of Computers, digital projectors or microscopes. We would appreciate
any parental support on this matter.
Special Olympics 2003
We are hoping to organise an international colours day here in St.
Paul’s school. We will be asking each pupil to donate €2
and the money we get will be put towards sponsoring an athlete for
the Special Olympics. This will be happening around the 14th of March
next.
Hurling
Hurling coaching continues for 2nd, 3rd and 5th classes on Fridays.
We thank Mungret/St. Pauls G.A.A., for their generosity in supplying
hurleys and helmets to the school. Our U10 U11 ½ and U 13 boy’s
teams will commence training and matches shortly. The city schools
and competitions will begin in March.
Swimming
1st, 2nd and 3rd classes are currently swimming at U.L. Arena Pool.
They will complete 6 weeks of lessons before Easter.
Fashion Show
Our Fashion Show will take place in the South Court Hotel on April
2nd at 8p.m. The Celia Holman Lee Agency will host the show on our
behalf. Tickets will be on sale next week at €10. Many parents
have been asking about tickets. We have decided to offer one ticket
per family and we are asking that the money be sent in to the class
teacher. Extra tickets can be got from members of the Parents Association
or from Susan in the School Office. There will only be a limited number
of tickets on sale. The Staff and the Parents Association are currently
looking for sponsors for our programme on the night. A full-page advertisement
is €100 and a half page advertisement is €65. We would welcome
any support of any parent in business.
Mungret/G.A.A. Club Activities.
Our local club are currently training in Hurling and Football and
any children from our school living in parishes of Mungret/Raheen
or St. Paul’s Dooradoyle are welcome to join. Many of our children
are enjoying Gaelic Games and we encourage our children to take part
in our national games.

Sundays 11a.m.
Outdoor Football U6, U8, U10 Mungret G.A.A. pitch Saturday 11 –
12.15p.m.
Parenting Classes
There will be a parenting class held for 5-6 nights after Easter during
May/June. Numbers are limited on this course and any information you
require can be got from Trish Reidy 301614 or Margaret O’Connor
309031. of the St. Paul’s Parents Association.

National Children’s Choir.
5th and 6th class children are busily preparing for the National Children’s
choir concert in U.L. on Monday 12th May. Tickets on sale in April.
